Easy makeup tips-So, you’ve probably gone through dozens of videos on YouTube and you feel like you’re the only one in the world who can’t get their makeup to look like a pro’s.
Achieving the perfect look doesn’t have to be so complicated or frustrating, whether you’re just starting out or you’re somewhat of a pro, you’re sure to learn a thing or two from this article.
So if doing a simple makeup seem harder to you than solving calculus (Ha-ha, No worries!) or you’re trying to break out of a boring monotonous routine, I’ll show you 13 insanely easy makeup tips and tricks you’ll wish you had known a long time ago!
Use a Spoon or Scotch Tape as a Stencil Winged Liner
Using a spoon or scotch tape as a stencil winged liner is the first of the list of my easy makeup tips.
Freehand drawing a straight line can be harder than it seems, especially when you drawing it on your face. So you want to get a perfect cat eye?
Grab a spoon or scotch tape and use it as a stencil. Whichever you choose to use, stick it in an angular fashion on the sides of your eyes, using the edge of the spoon or tape as a stencil, create a straight line from the outer corner of the eye with your liquid eyeliner.
Then, trace a curved edge from the end of the line back down to your lashes and fill in the wing. You’ll have your friends jealous with the result.
Getting the perfect smoky eyes may seem impossible especially for a beginner, this is because it requires a lot of blending and different shades of eyeshadow, but what if I told you there is a fast and easy alternative.
Using a creamy eyeliner, draw a slanted hashtag symbol above the outer corner of your eyes. Now blend it out with a smudging brush. Doing this gives you a killer smoky eyes you’ll struggle believing you made by yourself.
Use a spoon as a Mascara shield
I’m sure finishing your perfect eyeshadow and finding out you’ve somehow smeared it with mascara ranks top in the most annoying things ever. Thanks to this trick, you don’t have to go through that again.
Your spoon comes in handy here again, place the spoon (preferably plastic) underneath your lashes. Now apply your mascara as you normally would.
As you sweep the mascara wand against your lashes and on the spoon, any residue will be coated on the spoon saving your eyeshadow.
Conceal eye bags and under-eye circle
Most of us conceal eye bags or under-eye circles by applying the concealer in a semi-circular fashion, this is not the best way to go.
Try applying the concealer in a triangular or conical pattern. The base of the triangle should be drawn just under your eyes and extend the tip towards the apple of your cheek.
This does a better job at concealing the redness and shadows as it easy to blend.
The Translucent Powder Hack
Making your lipstick last longer is a struggle for every woman, whether it’s a wine glass or let’s face it Kissing! Your lipstick usually ends up everywhere but your lips.
To avoid this, after applying your lip color, place a tissue over your mouth, and dust on translucent powder on top of the tissue.
Applying the translucent powder without the tissue can alter your lip shade so you want to do it with the tissue. Doing this will increase the longevity of your lipstick.
Even for the most avid user of makeup, there are days where you would rather go bare-faced. Tightlining is a good way to give your eyes that extra pop when you don’t want to pile on the makeup.
It is a much-targeted technique as you will be targeting the area between your lashes.
Using a gel eyeliner, outline the roots of your upper eyelashes. This makes the base of your lashes appear thicker, more defined and lush.
Proper highlighting and contouring
Contouring has to be one of the most difficult steps in the whole makeup routine. This is because it is easy to look patchy, overdone or even misplaced.
However, when done properly it can minimize a larger nose, define your jawline and cheekbones and highlight your overall facial features.
To get the perfect contour you have to know what face type you have and what contour style goes with it. i.e. what works for your oval faced friend may not work for your round face.
Generally, you want to start with the t-zone of your forehead, the tip of your nose and work your way to the side of your hairline then define the hollow of your cheek underneath your cheekbones and trace down your jawline. Blend to get a more natural look.
Fake the Cheekbones
So if you have a very rounded face and under-defined cheekbones, a great hack for you is just some simple sculpting. Start by finding your cheeks hollow. To find it, roll the handle of a brush or a pencil over your cheekbone until you find the little pocket underneath the bone.
Apply a blush or contour powder on this hollow area, and blend it out. For extra features, you can add a sweep of shimmer along the top of your cheekbones and temples
Define your Cupid’s bow with an X
Using a lip liner with the same shade as your lipstick, draw an X on the pointy part of your upper lip, and with your lipstick, fill in all sections of the “X”.
Get each corner of both the upper and bottom lip by moving outward. For more accuracy at the corner, open your mouth slightly. Fill in every corner for the perfect kissable lips.
Heat your eyelash curler with a hairdryer
If after using your eyelash curler, your lashes can’t seem to hold up all day, a good hack is to apply the same technique you use for your hair with your curling wand and heat. Use your blow dryer to blast your eyelash curler with hot air for about 6 seconds.
Firstly, test the temperature on your hand to avoid any form of burning. Then you your eyelash curler like you normally would. The heat will make your lashes curl more and stay in place for longer periods.
Avoid Peach Fuzz
Although I recommend moisturizing your face with upward strokes to help lessen sagging face and fine lines, you don’t want to do that when applying your foundation.
Most of us have hair strands on our faces that grow downwards. Therefore, applying foundation using upwards strokes would make the hair strands stick straight up creating a peach fuzz. So always apply foundation with downward strokes to avoid this.
The Lip Cheat
Unfortunately, not all of us have naturally defined lush lips. With a little tinkering here and there though, you can create yours.
To do this, use your lip liner to outline the outer margin of your lips.
Make sure you’re tracing just the outer natural line of your lips. Overdoing it will make it very obvious and a total wreck. If you do this moderately then you’re on track to a Kylie Jenner’s esque lips.
Instant Eye Lift
An instant eye lift is the last on my list of easy makeup tips. Do you have groggy eyes or you just randomly feel like your eyes need a lift? This instant eye lift hack is the way to go.
To achieve it, draw an arch using a highlighter just above your eyebrows. Now blend it out using a pointer finger. This highlights your eyebrows and gives a nice illusive feeling about your whole eye area.
The things you can do with makeup are endless, you just have to find out for yourself. Discover new ideas, express yourself and most importantly, have fun at it. I hope these 13 easy makeup tips will wake up the makeup junkie in you.
